F593 Bolt Specification Configurations
There are two common configurations of the F593 specification for fasteners. We will go through these below.
ASTM F593 Stud
One common configuration of F593 grades is the stud. Studs are typically short and fully threaded. They are usually ordered with a nut on each end. The difference between studs and all thread rods is how it is measured. Studs are measured from the first full thread to the last full thread instead of the overall length.
When ordering an F593 bolt they are mostly ordered as hex bolts. Each F593 alloy group has its own unique dimensional requirements. Refer to the group’s page for the exact requirements. We measure head bolts from the bottom of the head to the end of the length of the bolt.
ASTM F593 Hex Cap Screw
The second configuration covered by the ASTM F593 specification is the hex cap screw. The difference between the hex bolt and hex cap screw is the allowable tolerances. Cap screws have much tighter tolerances than hex bolts.
